The tree grows between 30 and 45 m high. The straight cylindrical branch-free trunk is 18-20 m long and has a diameter between 60 and 80 cm. Old trees have roots up to 1.0 m high.
Wood description
When fresh, the wood is flesh-coloured, darkening to greyish reddish brown, dark reddish brown or sometimes purplish brown. The heartwood is clearly distinguishable from the 30-50 mm wide white to light brown sapwood.
